The Master is led in English. There is no precise level of English required, although all our students should be able to understand and express themselves in English. Usually, we assess your level of English during our interview (live or Skype) if you pass the first selection.
French is not a pre-requisite for the Master; some of our students decide to learn French after arriving here, some don’t. Though, keep in mind that having a minimum level of French (B1) is definitely a plus as the stock for English-speaking internships is relatively limited in the edtech ecosystem in Paris. You will always be asked to have a minimum understanding of French, at least to cope with external communication and every-day life.
Our Master diploma is acknowledged and issued by Université de Paris.
It issues 60 credits per year (60 ects in M1, 60 ects in M2).
Of course, you are free to only validate the M1 level and continue your studies elsewhere.
Our master is recognized at an European and international level (currently called “LMD Master Program”).
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a unit of measure of the educational components of an education program. In order to validate their academic year, students must gather 60 ECTS.
Be aware that living in Paris is very expensive, at least 1.000€ a month on a student budget and provided you stay in a university residency.
Even a part-time job is hard to maintain with the commitments to the master, whose courses are mandatory and full time. Though a scholarship is not mandatory to access the Master, you have to be aware that supporting your studies in a city like Paris requires a serious funding plan.
Here is an estimated budget for a one-year stay in Paris:
The above amounts are subject to change and are given for information only.
Tuition fees for the 2019/2020 academic year : 243€
Non-European students : Despite a decision from the French government to change the regulations concerning the tuition fees for non-European students, the Université de Paris decided not to adhere to these new regulations. Indeed, the Université de Paris is very attached to open up the university and therefore voted unanimously that non-European students will pay the same registration fee as French students for 2019/2020.
The above information will be soon updated for the academic year 2020-2021.
CVEC (campus tax) for the 2019/2020 academic year : 91€
Before you can enroll in a higher education establishment in France you must prove that you paid the campus and student life tax (CVEC). This tax helps develop social, sanitary, cultural and sports services for students. It also supports the preventive and educative actions for the health of students. https://www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr/envole/
Health coverage in France
During your studies in France, the health coverage is a compulsory requirement. It is simple and free of charge through the French health insurance system.
To register to the French health insurance system, and receive a reimbursement for your healthcare costs, visit https://etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr/#/, and follow the steps listed on this dedicated site.
In addition to the compulsory health coverage, students can sign up for a complementary health insurance (mutuelle) that covers any medical fees that exceed the social security ceiling. You can sign up for the complementary health insurance of your choice (a student mutuelle, your parents’ policy, another complementary health insurance agency, etc.).
If you cannot afford an optional complementary health insurance policy, aid is possible via the CMU-C or ACS, as well as other programs, depending on available resources.
Civil liability insurance
Students must subscribe to a Civil liability insurance that covers the risks listed below. This type of insurance guarantees the repair of damages that may be caused by the student to a third person or animal, to possessions for which they are legally responsible or to their accommodation, regardless of whether the damages were caused through negligence or not.
Risks to be covered:
Check that the complementary health insurance you choose offers a civil liability valid for both your private and student life. That way, you'll be covered on your place of study and the place of your internship. The civil liability insurance is now offered by most banks, in addition to major insurance companies. We suggest that you inquire at the bank when you open your bank account in France. A copy of your insurance may be required by a company where you do an internship.
Alongside scholarships from the Ministère de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche, we propose to AIRE Master 1 and Master 2 students a limited number of scholarships:
Unfortunately, our master is not eligible for the allowance of such a grant.
Indeed, the major obstacle for our program to apply to the Eiffel Excellence scholarship is that the selection takes place in January, while our call for applying to the Master AIRE program opens in February.
We totally support and follow students willing to make the most of the courses provided by each curriculum, as long as they hold the 60 ECTS required to validate the year. According to your background and training plan, this issue can be discussed during the recruitment interview. The AIRE Master is a program designed for each participant to make the most of an interdisciplinary approach targeting scientific, pedagogical and digital challenges, and we are here to help you design your relevant path through it.
Many internship proposals are offer to students during their year in the Master. This list is at disposal to AIRE Master students.
Our academic program benefits from a large network of labs and partners in the business and start-up ecosystem in Paris and abroad. A non-exhaustive list of labs, institutions, and companies is at disposal of AIRE Master students.
Most of Life Sciences students (>80%) follow a Ph.D. program either in France or in foreign Universities. Others work in the industry or start medical school.
After graduating of the Learning Sciences curriculum, students can work as an education designer, an editorial manager or a project manager for universities, start-ups, and NGOs, start your own business as a consultant and an entrepreneur, or start a Ph.D. in a doctoral school! Also, some students have already a full professional background, training in our program can be a step aside from your professional routine and a way to redesign both your hard and soft skills. This is the case for doctors who come to imagine a serious game, designers who want to have a long time of experimentation in the fields of digital techniques and user-centric approach or creators, teachers, and entrepreneurs who are willing to fund their project with a research-based inquiry.
After graduating of the Digital Sciences curriculum, students can work as data scientist, R&D engineer, digital project manager, consultant and entrepreneur. They can also start a Ph.D. in a doctoral school.
